    .223 die set up problems

Went to the range this weekend with a friend that bought new AR-15. I was shooting all reloads and had excellent results. Bullets and brass from @wes sage. Tonight I was setting up my dillon xl650 that I use Dillon .223 dies with and for some reason I can’t get the resizing die set. It bulges the top of the case. I have adjusted the decaping pin to where I have used it before I believe and I can’t get the case to fit in the case checker. It looks like the neck is bulging a little. It will fit almost all the way in to case checker except maybe for 1/8” or little more. I feel like I’m doing something stupid easily wrong. I have screwed for out and in playing with adjustment as well as pin setting in and out. I went step by step on instructions and still can’t get it. Any tips or video on what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance. Also I’m not looking for a smart answer or insults.

Is your decapper pin bent? If it is tweaked any, it could skew your brass enough to catch your neck and tweak it.

Is the brass .223 or 5.56? I remember reading about a throat issue before with Dillion dies, but I don’t remember the resolve.

After I wrote that, I thought about what if the brass was .223 and it was fired in a 5.56 chamber, you might need the small base dies to size.....

Back the die out 1/8 to 1/4 turn. Sounds like you are bumping the shoulder back too far.

If backing the die up doesn't fix it make sure you have the proper shell holder in place..
